It with deep regret that I have to inform you of the
passing of another of our Club members, Don Shilling.
Don passed away on Wednesday following a long illness. His wife, Mary
and daughter Jackie were with him.
Although Don was not a police officer he was a former Probation
Officer and came to our Club in the late 1990's. He became a
County Player and received his County Badge from John
Thompson at Purley Bowls Club in 2012. He also attended a number of
County Tours and
on Allan Sayers tour to the Isle of Wight in 2017 he celebrated his
80th Birthday and generously bought the
wine for the tour party at dinner.
Don was awarded Honorary Life Membership at our Club AGM in February,
an honour he really cherished.
Don was a great member of our Club who will be sorely missed.
